Toba Lake, North Sumatra

Lake Toba North Sumatra

Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia, located in North Sumatra. The time it takes to get to the Medan from Bandung is about 2 hours, actually best way to get to Medan is from Jakarta, lot of flying toward Medan is in Jakarta, and also cheaper. But we choose to depart from Bandung. We checked in at the Husen Sastranegara Airport  at 6.30 am and take off is about 7.00 am, at 10 am, we arrived at the Kuala Namu international Airport of  Medan. From Kuala Namu we continued our journey to Toba Lake parapat via Pematang Siantar, on parapat we found a unique public transport vehicles, namely bentor or in Indonesian motor tricycles. Motorcycle modifications so biased in carrying passengers. Actually in many other parts of Indonesia found a similar vehicle, but the difference is that a motorcycle is a motorcycle used classic European bike like BSA, Triumph etc.

At around 4 pm we arrived at Lake Toba, according to a recommendation from my friend, the hotel with the best view of Lake Toba is Patra Prapat. But because we came a day before the month of fasting, the Hotel Patra Parapat its location on the edge of the cliff Toba Lake very quiet so we decided to stay in a hotel located in a crowded place. We stayed at Niagara Parapat. But before leaving Patra Parapat, I had to take some pictures

On the way to the Niagara Hotel we had dinner at one of the Minang Restaurants. Minang restaurant is one of the most famous restaurants in Indonesia. It almost no cities in Indonesia that there is no Minang restaurants. Special menu of the restaurant is Rendang Minang, mmmm .. yumie. another typical menu of Minang Restaurants in Toba Lake is a Pora pora fish, a type of small fish that has a savory taste and crunchy. Next we set off back to the hotel to rest.

According to the tour guide, we had to get up at 5 am for breakfast and then get ready to surf Lake Toba at 6 am, so the air is still cool and flexibility to get around to the tourist destinations in the Lake Toba and Samosir Island.

At 1 pm we had finished around Lake Toba, then we went to the field with a different route with our time comes. These surround the banks of Lake Toba Berastagi. We were treated to incredible views all the way along the beautiful Lake Toba, on our trip we spend a time to take a picture with a waterfall backdrop which is the water source of Toba Lake. The journey then continued down the road towards the rural and mountainous Brastagi. After dinner at our trip to Brastagi prior to stopping at the tavern durian, durian is very well known in Indonesia with a strong scent and taste more delicious than durian in other place in Indonesia.

Our journey ends in 21 PM at Medan, we stay at the Santika H
otel Medan to return the next day and then back to my home sweet home. But before we going home don't forget to buy a souvenir, namely bika Ambon and rolls cake, yummy .....
